Feeding at Coyote Mint flowers on West face of Liebel Peak in the Piute Mountains. This may be the mostly unsilvered subspecies Laurina. Elevation 7500+ ft. Sunny day in the 90’s F.
Continuing bird at this location. Glad to finally get it as a lifer, as they have declined a ton in the past decade or two. Very few are left on mainland CA, but they still have a decent population Santa Catalina Island.

Not the greatest pictures, but you can see the spots on the neck. The birds were actively calling to each other; I detected at least three in this area (one of the last strongholds of this introduced species in California)
