Plant pathogen? Amber-colored foaming material (bacterial?) oozing from Platte thistle (Cirsium canescens) large flower head buds. Second photo is inside of dissected bud. Any clues or help with ID cause would be greatly appreciated! Ants often seen climbing into/ out of hole created.
Plant pathogen (Black fungus?) on leaf tips of Platte thistle (Cirsium canescens), sometimes with tingid nymphs (Corythucha distincta) as in this photo but sometimes without the tingid.
