I observed a fisherman catch four female leopard sharks and a skate, to which I had never seen before. The largest was close to three feet in lenght. The fisherman told me he had caught one about every hour. They were alive and well and he had planned to throw them back.

Bat Ray (Myliobatis californicus), Heron's Head Park, San Francisco, California - 11 August 2013. A local fisherman caught this unfortunate ray while I was birding in the area (line visible to right of photo). It was about two feet across the "wings". While I was excited to see the ray, it was sad to see such a cool creature taken for sport. Apparently they're not eaten.
