Bell shaped jelly fish about a hundred of them washed ashore at Pillar Point. I haven’t seen them before. Not Moon jellies, no color at all.
Someone suggested ‘mesoglea, so the middle layer of a jelly fish, that would explain why it is lacking in other characteristics.
Contacted Monterey Bay Aquarium. Was identified as Scrippsia pacifica, giant bell jelly.
