Description

Mostly blue with a white and gray underbelly, has a black stripe that cuts between the blue color around the lower neck. Black eyes and a black beak with a whiteish grayish face. Very skittish. When on the ground it moves with hopping on the legs and pecks at the ground, most likely looking for food. Got scared when I came to close

Description

Identification: This is known as a Limpkin, a dueterostome. It is scientifically known as Aramus guarauna, Order Gruiformes and
Family Aramidae.
Habitat: This Limpkin was observed in my backyard, a moist land, nearby a lake. According to www.allaboutbirds.org, Limpkins favor to leave by marshes and other wetlands.
Visual Description: This Limpkin has long (approximately 6 inches) light pink beak, long dirty-grey neck, black/dark brown body and thin, long pinkish brown legs. It seems to be about 1.5 ft in height
