Lake Huron Locust (Trimerotropis huroniana)

Description

Flushed a pair showing pale yellow wings with black bands. They didn't flush far, suggesting T. huroniana versus T. maritima which typically flushes far to out of sight. Photographed the male (about half the size of the female) on sand to confirm Genus Trimerotropis from two sulci across shallow carina on pronotum, caught him and confirmed species as huroniana and photographed inner side of femur with large basal black band covering half the femur and a narrow band near the distal end. The female did not cooperate for in habitat photos or capture, so we did not harass it. At least 7 individuals were observed over the two day survey, including several pair. One instance of crepitation was heard. No mating was observed. Observed and photographed with the assistance of @ruthnoland-flores
