Growing terrestrially in leaves, with many Pin oaks around. This is a moist environment, right by Little Neck Bay. The caps are pale brown / beige, dry to the touch, peeling easily. The gills were slightly decurrent, a weathered brownish yellow color. The stipe is light beige and was full of worms. The most distinctive feature of this mushroom was the smell - it was unpleasant, sickly sweet and a bit like moth balls. Elliptical spores with conspicuous apical pores. No ornamentation on spores, so I'm guessing this is not a Russula.
