Linnets often gather in quite large groups and that is what I came across today ( 17th April). Must have been 30/40 birds swirling over the fields.
The lighter brown legs is the first clue that this is a willow warbler and not a chiffchaff - the slightly yellow eye stripe is also a good indicator . I watched this restless warbler for ten minutes flitting round our local pond catching flies and from time to time heard it’s melodic song.
