The plant species was located in the town of Santa Cruz. The leaves of the plant are dark green with a waxy layer of the leaves and the leaves margin is dentate. The plant is also a shrub with woody stems. The plant was identified using iNaturalist’s phot comparison and using a sample of the specimen in comparison to CalFlora’s photos.

Alternate leaves, 4-12 cm long, oblanceolate with entire margins, undulate and recurved, acute tips, attenuate base. Adaxial leaf surface glandular. Inflorescence in panicle arrangement with disciform corollas, emergent buds pink. Specimen found in shale soil of recently burned area.
Mother approximately 6 feet tall. Flowers white. Bark deep red to brown. Flowers starting to fall. Leaves a lighter ashy green color. Specimen found in between buildings by social sciences 1.
