After a Milam Co. historical society meeting at the Rockdale public library, I went scouting for red ant beds in areas I remembered to be former sites in my childhood. I was hoping to find a Texas horned lizard for the 2023 Horned Lizard BioBlitz: Texas and Oklahoma (June 24-July 1).
Near the locked entrance to the Rockdale Fair Park.

Baffled and bewildered, after driving past the Keep Out, No Trespassing signs at the entrance, I deposited my $2 donation in the box and went in to explore the site said to be on the Great Texas Wildlife Trail. So, while doing an Adopt-A-Loop site visit, I was blatantly trespassing. Does this place with a brown and white sign want to be a GTWT site? Will contact owner/ representative if possible. Should have checked before I drove out that way. After some searching on the internet, according to trip.com: Open on Thu-Sun, 4:30pm-10:00pm..

After attending a meeting of the Rancheria Grande Chapter of the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail Association in Rockdale, I explored some dry dusty Milam County roads. If it was green, I took a photo. It was dusty!
Crushed leaf = Distinct camphor odor.
