female crossing road
On Mother's Day, at grandson Riley's home, I photographed my first bullfrog that showed more than just eyes above the water. Riley's street ended in a dead end with an orange barrier. Behind the barrier was open field which was in the process of being cleared for construction. I went to look behind the barrier & there was a small rain pool, very shallow but fairly wide and long. I focused on a stick poking up out of the water to find it was actually a bull frog. Looked like a stick from a distance.
Got to see those muscular back legs in action as they kicked & propelled the frog thru the water. I tried frog legs once, didn't particularly like them. I'll stick with admiring them on living frogs.
I was far enough back that the frog didn't see me. The webbed feet are pretty cool looking. It got to the edge of the water, floated for a bit then dove out of sight into mud & vegetation.
