On release from dense cover by Japanese honeysuckle
leaning on ti kouka, one branch now dependent on the ti kouka for support due to the abnormal length of the karamu branch trying to escape the honeysuckle
The ti kouka leans at about 45deg away from the camera, and the four new shoots seen here crumpled on release from honeysuckle rapidly grew, all being over 2mH, stout and erect in March 2021, helping to restore balance
Last image shows the continuation of the honeysuckle on the adjacent bank. Only one of about 5 karamu of similar size on that bank (perhaps a planting of about 10-15 years ago?) survived on release
Trackside in the Cable Bay Walkway remnant bush. Abundant along the track.
Two birds flew across Scenic Drive separately, and were feeding in ?. Maybe houhere/lacebark.
Large specimen reaching for the light.
