Unoccupied shell.
Three fruiting bodies fruiting in woody debris under a casuarina shelter belt.
Strongly attached to the mycelium
Stem was tough, and had vertical stripes traveling from base to cap.
What I found interesting is that the caps changed shades as if the color was moisture dependant. Yet they were moist and significant rain in the morning, and showers in the afternoon.
The cap surface was also pitted and was not smooth like I would have expected.
Observation local has wide error as I can't figure out the orchard that we visited from google maps.

Purple fungus along Flora Stream growing under Beech. A keen eye will notice the Whio perched on a rock along the stream!
