Plants disappear as we climb up high on Ella Island
Here are some of the iNaturalist observations we captured in summer of 2022 while climbing from sea level to 1300m in elevation on Ella Island.
The landscape turned from green to...gravel! Only the hardiest species were found near the top.
You can easily see how species change with altitude here, and in summer of 2023 we'll explore how species limits also change with latitude as we head to the northernmost land on earth - Avannaarsua: Greenland's northern landscapes.
