After reading about the recent sighting of the super Ghost Orchid, I decided I'd have to take a road trip to see and photograph it. It was a fairly long road trip from Jacksonville Florida down to Naples Florida, over 300 miles. As I'd never seen this rare beauty, it was well worth the trip. Hitting the road around 8 am, I headed south.

I arrived at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary around 3:30 that afternoon after driving thru some horrific rain storms! I was a little worried that the park would be closed or worse yet, the orchid would be damaged due to the storms! Luckily, neither happened!

The super ghost is a fairly long way off the boardwalk, about 150 yards and 50 feet up a large cypress tree. Even with my 400mm zoom lens, these are the best photos I was able to get. They're not the greatest, but I'm pleased with them!
