Paradise shelducks and the Christchurch Red Zone along the Avon River.

All my posts from 14 May 2016 are a reverse trip for observations on where Paradise Shelducks are along the Avon River. This was to see how close pairs were to each other. After making the initial trip on 8 May 2016 I reversed the trip a week later. The second day was to see how far or if any moved along the river or into the Red Zone grassed areas during that time. Unfortunately I did not have a memory stick in my camera from the first day so hence why there are no observations placed for May 8, 2016. Although I can tell you that there were two extra pairs I found on the second day of observations, and that there were pairs in close proximity to where they had been observed on May 8 on May 14.

The extra pairs were the pair at the Armagh St boat shed, and a pair near Retreat Road. The group of four females and one male were in a similar area to May 8 that had a group of three adult females and one adult male with four juveniles.

Prebbleton Reserve

Spent minutes here on 10 March for Ecol assignment.
Saw about 20 white butterflies, probably some were there same butterfly but saw up to four at the same time. Saw a common copper and an as yet unidentified moth/butterfly one alive and one caught in a spiders web.
