Photos / SoundsWhatPutoniella pruniObserverbunnuruDescriptionMass occurence of galls. Host plant is Prunus cerasifera maybe? The galls all occur on the underside of the leaf along the mid rib, never anywhere else. The galls are glossy, thin-walled and hollow, and the ones I cut open all had 2 - 3 small orange larvae inside. The iNat app suggested that these are aphid galls from Dysaphis, but the presence of larvae in the galls obviously points towards some sort of gall midge. The visually closest I could find is Putoniella pruni, so I've settled on that for the ID. |
