Photos / SoundsWhatArmyworm Moths (Genus Spodoptera)ObserverkdstutzmanDescriptionI was chopping some kale when I found a little friend. He had been in my fridge for a couple of days without my knowing, unfortunately, so he was probably feeling a bit chilly. The kale was grown in Lancaster County, but location of the observation is my house in Philadelphia. |

Photos / SoundsWhatBean Leaf Beetle (Cerotoma trifurcata)ObserverkdstutzmanDescriptionI was chopping some green beans, and look who I found! I was surprised this beetle was alive because the beans had been in the fridge for several days, but it seemed unfazed by its low-temperature sojourn. The photos were taken in my kitchen in South Philadelphia, but the beans were grown in Lancaster County, so that’s probably a more accurate origin for this observation. I put the beetle outside after taking the photos. |
