Description

on the first flower buds of a poroporo germinated here on forest margin wild in October 2018. recently lost all lower leaves and another pair is yellowed. a few holes in some leaves but generally looks healthy. (The poroporo survived a very hard long drought in poor clay soil so leaf loss and yellowing may be related to that)

Description

On Feb 18th I found a beetle larva under a stone (see https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/10065524). I brought it back to see it metamorphose but it died. About two weeks later the cause of death appeared in the form of this tachinid fly. Unfortunately tachinids are not host specific so it didn't help with identifying the beetle.

This is a great photo. It looks to me though like an aphid and not a scale insect. in any case scale insects can be positively identified with a mounted female. I would be happy to receive any sample you would like to search further.

Description

Diaspids (recorded on Crete) associated with Ficus carica are: Chrysomphalus dictyospermi; Lepidosaphes beckii, pinnaeformis; Parlatoria ziziphi, none of which match visually. Hemiberlesia lataniae provides the closest visual match and, although more usually associated with the Kiwi Fruit it is noted as ocurring on Ficus by Scale Net
