There's a wide, mowed trail that runs through the trees along the back of the pond at Alexandria Community Park. All sorts of insects were busy fluttering out over the grass, and many kinds of flies were perched on leaves of the shrubbery lining the trail.

This small (5 mm?) fly was walking the edge of an Autumn Olive leaf while busily waving its wings. Unfortunately, it didn't hang around long enough for me to get a clear photo. I looked, but it was the only one of its type I saw. It is not something that I see commonly in this area.

This maybe 1.25" long damselfly sat on an Autumn Olive leaf along the edge and was still long enough for me to take a few photos.

This 1"-1.25" long damselfly lit on the leaf of an Autumn Olive along the edge of the trail and let me take several photos before it flew off again.
