I have degrees in English Literature and Biology and I am interested in all aspects of nature, but I am especially interested in birds, plants (especially carnivorous and succulent plants) and more recently insects. I am an active e-bird contributor.

I have been fortunate in being able to travel with my husband to 61 countries in the last 40 years. Our travels have been a combination of work-related, personal trips and since 2022 cruises where my husband provides natural history related talks. Our recent (Feb 2024) cruise to the Amazon River yielded over 600 observations (all submitted to iNaturalist) of insects including many beautiful moths. Our more in-depth explorations have been in the southwest US and Latin America (especially Mexico, which we have visited more than 30 times since 1987). South Africa (visited 7 times since 2002) and Australia have also been recurring areas of exploration.

Besides nature I also enjoy the cultural and historical aspects associated with travels. I also enjoy photography, reading, classical music, gardening and I am an avid cook.
