I am a student of biological sciences and I haven't quite pinned down exactly what it is I am going to focus on. I love science. I love associating with people who love science and who hold themselves accountable for upholding its truths. I love nature and clouds and the ocean and weird organisms and cute ones and impossibly small ones.
I love photography and taking pictures of neat stuff that nature does.I have spent days of my life in intent focus, trying to capture the amazingness of experiences I feel need to be recorded. I've turned my phone into a microscope and used it to take pictures of a fungus that had grown on a grasshoppers leg that I had attempted to preserve in a jar (my profile picture). I have agonized over keeping my cell phone in line with the ocular lens of my microscope to take pictures of microorganisms. I have gone birding and captured sightings by modifying my cell phone with the binoculars. I can spend hours trying to capture something interesting. I recently was able to get my hands on a bona fide DSLR camera and I am excited to finally get to learn some real photographic skills.
I enjoy the detective work of conducting observations and determining the identification of what was observed. I appreciate that there are people dedicating their time to the act of evidence collection that can be used to create cases for the preservation of nature (and ultimately ourselves). I feel good about being a part of such efforts. I am looking forward learning all I can and being useful in this community.
