I'm a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader as well as a geocacher and amateur photographer. I'm a retired part-time Computer Science professor. I also volunteer as a land steward for the Lancaster Conservancy.

I take pictures of natural things and try to identify them. I have a reputation for knowing about things outdoors. I share what I see to encourage others to appreciate (and care for) the outdoors.

My profile picture was taken by my daughter of me taking a picture of a fox carrying its lunch (ground squirrel?) on a trail in western Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, USA on 26 July 2012. We saw several foxes that day using the trails. At least one stepped off the trail to let us pass.

I'm a member of the Fox patrol in Boy Scout Wood Badge and collect fox things although I smell the wild ones more often than I see them.
