Botany-focused naturalist based in western NY state. I specialize in tree measurement as a member of the American Forests National Cadre.

I would encourage anyone interested in learning how to accurately measure trees (a necessity for cleaning up the existing scientific literature) to review the methods in this guidebook: Further applications of these techniques allow detailed accounting of the carbon sequestration of individual trees, which is essential to validating competing LiDAR and traditional forestry mensuration models for understanding the role tree growth plays in the carbon cycle.

I desperately need to review IDs of everything I uploaded more than 6 months ago. I always try to ID to the best of my ability, but the learning is very much still happening.
