I am a student of the History of Animals and Environmental History. My views on animals are loosely 'Chinese' where I study them in the context of human relations and larger phenomena. Besides identifying animals (as per my participation in projects), I look forward to accounting for their presence from a philosophical and socio-religious perspective as well. Unorthodox this sounds, but I feel that this is an important way of "seeing" animals beyond mere flesh and bone, a facet that is especially important for Singapore, where the bulk of the island is colonized by the "concrete jungle".

Although I am currently tied down by other projects, I am looking forward to see how temple-goers in Singapore can consider adding their observations and interpretations of animals within Chinese temples around the island into the iNaturalist Database as well - do keep a lookout for it in the days ahead :)
