Dedicated to the advancement of Geographic Literacy for Indiana educators, students and citizens. Established in 1983 by K-20 educators concerned about the lack of Geographic knowledge demonstrated by Indiana students. Since that time, the organization has provided direct and indirect professional development opportunities for (IN) educators (formal and informal, public/private/home/libraries/after-school/4-H/FFA/Scouts and more), classroom curriculum (indoors and outdoors), student engagement opportunities, community geo-education events and more. GENI produces IN Atlases and Educators Guides, Giant IN and County Maps and Timelines, and much more partnering with the state's dynamic GIS/Geospatial Professionals: IUPUI Department of Geography, IN Geographic Information Office & Officer, statewide post-secondary institution's Departments or Schools of Geography/Environmental Studies/Education, IN Geological & Water Survey, INView, INMap, IN State Data Center and IN State Library, IN Historical Society and many more entities.
