I’m an ecologist and naturalist based in Midcoast Maine.

The bulk of my work with the Maine Natural History Observatory is focused on birds, particularly aerial insectivores. I started the Maine Nightjar Monitoring Project, a multifaceted research effort focused on the study and conservation of Maine’s whip-poor-wills and nighthawks, in 2017. I also coordinate Maine-based research projects focused on Bank Swallow, Cliff Swallow, Tree Swallow, and American Kestrel.

I recently completed work on the second generation of the Maine Bird Atlas (2018-2023) during which I served as a lead technician. I served as a co-editor of the Atlas publication - coming Fall 2026.

In addition to birds, I’m interested in natural history in general. I’m especially interested documenting bee flies, robber flies, flower flies, sand wasps, and butterflies. I’ve spent a significant amount of time conducting fieldwork in Northwest Aroostook county and in the pine barrens of Southern Maine.
