I am mostly using iNaturalist as a companion to my photography hobby.

My day job is as a research scientist in marine biology (Fisheries and Oceans Canada). A big part of my research includes mapping and monitoring marine biodiversity.

One of my favourite hobbies is nature photography. iNaturalist has helped me expand my knowledge of wildlife existing outside my deep-sea work bubble. Practicing how to ID the flora and fauna around you is definitely a lifelong learning experience that iNaturalist has made a little easier!
