I am an environmentalist and have worked as a volunteer with local environmental groups in my area of Maryland, and also now in Massachusetts. I love gardening, plants, flowers, and trees, and want to help preserve them for future generations. I worked on tree-planting project for my neighborhood to replace trees that had died on our state managed road. This involved contacting the MDOT to place a service request. The trees have not yet been replaced, but we also engaged in a community clean-up of this roadside, removing trash, vines and an invasive species of Caper Spurges. We are hoping that MDOT will replace the trees, if their budget allows. They died due to being exposed to car exhaust along a busy, four-lane roadway, and also perhaps due to changing weather conditions and droughts in the late summer and fall, in Maryland.

I am now living near the coast of Massachusetts, and identifying new species of birds and other flora in this area, and expanding my knowledge about native plants of the Chesapeake Bay/Mid-Atlantic and Massachusetts region, and how to plant them to help create healthy ecosystems for birds, bees, and butterflies!
