I'm a retired school teacher. I began teaching art in Junior High School in mid 1972 and ended in 2000 as a content mastery specialist teacher for fifth and sixth graders.

Since retiring, I moved to 18 rural acres. My immediate surroundings has contiguous habitats of pine forest, coastal prairie and post-oak Savannah. Once here, I discovered and joined the Texas Master Naturalist. Now I try to learn as much as I can about the native plants and animals of my area as well as the invasive species. On my land, even during this devastating drought, I'm trying to identify the native plants already here and re-establish a wide variety of beneficial native plant species as well as remove exotic and invasive plant species. Numerous species of birds use this land throughout the year, but limited varieties and quantities of other animals are seen

I also volunteer at the Katy Prairie Conservancy.
