My first memories are embedded in nature. I grew up on a 350 acre farm in rural Lincolnshire in the 1940s and '50s. I would spend timeless hours exploring the hedgerows, meadows, woods, and the meandering banks of our brook – named the River Eden. Indeed it was a paradise for me! Wildlife and wildflowers abounded. Sadly today, due to habitat loss, only fragments of Britain’s once abundant flowers, birds and animals remain.
My passion for exploring and enjoying the natural world remains. I feel privileged to live in British Colombia, to be able to experience and enjoy its diverse and fascinating ecosystems – from remote mountain tops to lush valley bottoms - its lakes, rivers and wild ocean inlets.
