I am close to retirement and my husband is retired. We have a great birdfeeder structure in our backyard and love watching all the birds, but are still very amateurish when it comes to identifying them. I grew up with a wonderful backyard, racing snails and watching butterflies in the summer, and eventually became a middle school science teacher. The article in the Los Angeles Times about the Slime project at The Los Angeles Naturalist History Museum caught my eye, and following up on that drew me to this group.
