I am a westerner by birth transplanted into Chicago. I grew up in a family of birders surrounded by and identifying nature. Yellowstone National Park was my childhood stomping ground. I have participated in a number of citizen sciences projects. I have collected birds for a bird rescue in Montana and went into the field with my sister when she was studying American avocets and black-necked stilts for her PhD. Now I haunt the little slips of nature in and around Chicago taking photos of what I see. My photos have appeared in The Core, Colloquium magazines and have been used with my permission to help advertise and raise funds for some of my favorite nature preserves. My careers are in theater and higher education. I feel strongly about both nature and photography being accessible to all.
