Although I've been a casual birder for a few years, I'm not much of a lister - I'm more interested in behaviour and in organisms as individuals. Along with birds, I'm pretty good with local mammals, reptiles and amphibians. I'd like to improve my existing ID skills and branch out to get to know trees, shrubs, and insects/arachnids. Mostly I want to be able to ID more things to better understand their relationships and connections. Right now I might be able to name the bird, but I also want to be able to recognize what tree it's on and what insect it's trying to eat.

I'm also a creative and freelance writer ( www.marilynannecampbell.com ) and a self-taught, hobbyist photographer. I currently put my combined skills to use as the Communications Assistant for the Humber Arboretum in North Etobicoke.
