I live in South Africa. I'm half botanist and half into agriculture, and my career has been divided almost equally between the two. W.r.t. the agriculture side, it's weeds and seeds, and my professional involvement was running a seed testing lab for SA's Dept. Agric. W.r.t. the botany side, I'm a taxonomist and have published papers in a variety of groups as well as making some contributions to the Flora of South Africa.

Education is mainly in taxonomy - I have an MSc (botany) from the University of Cape Town and a PhD (ditto) from Uni Natal.

After curating a small herbarium and giving lectures to postgrads at Uni Walter Sisulu in Mthatha for 14 years, I retired and am now living in Oudtshoorn, getting to know a succulent, winter-rainfall flora very different from the summer-rainfall flora I was used to all my life. Back to being a student! What a pleasure.
