I'm a professor of Arthropod Behavior at UC-Berkeley, in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management. Most of my research focuses on the behavior and evolution of ants, using techniques from genetics, genomics, and chemical ecology. Some of the topics that I'm currently interested in are the evolution of pheromones, the features of invasive species that underlie their success, the genetics and development of social behavior, and the initial stages of speciation.
