I am a specialist in the family Costaceae. I have been studying these plants in neo tropical forests for 18 years and have completed 20 IUCN Red List assessments for Costus species.

I am currently working with Paul Maas of The Netherlands and Chelsea Specht of Cornell University on a revision to the monograph on new world Costus and we have submitted for publication 18 new species in Costaceae.

My primary interest is visiting the type localities of little known species that were collected by early plant explorers.
