Not a scientist but I've managed the website for the Florida Museum of Natural History for 20 years...you get exposed to a lot of interesting biodiversity that way! Mostly a bird nerd but I'm really enjoying getting to know other flora & fauna through this app. My kids and I enjoy going on hikes with a camera and seeing what we can find.
