I am a "naturalist that knows in his heart that putting a name to something is nothing in itself" (Doug Sadler, 1987). I do feel however that putting a name to something in nature can be the catalyst to knowing and relating to it, to feeling awe and wonder in the face of it. Once that task is done perhaps we will step up to protect the natural world. In that vain I'm interested in iNaturalist as a conservation professional and evangelist for the Land Trust movement, and hope to see how iNaturalist is introducing people to to the natural world in all its depth and magic.
