I grew up at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in southern California's Mojave Desert. I first developed an interest for nature in Mr. Robertson's 7th grade science class at James Monroe Junior High School in 1972. Most of my interests were in reptiles and mammals and those interests continued to grow through my high school years. In 1978 I took a Natural History class with Janet Westbrook at Cerro Coso Community College and she expanded my interests to plants and birds. Needless to say, I got an A in the class but I enjoyed the class so much I took it again the next year for fun. In 1999 I moved to Tucson, Arizona where I now enjoy the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert.
