It's mostly about birds. My name is Adele Barger Wilson. I'm an old lady who has lived in the U.S. mid-Atlantic region all her life. I've had nesting Barn Swallows on the building where I live since 2011. I love these birds so much that, in 2013, I wrote a book about them. In 2015, a kind neighbor put up two Eastern Bluebird nest boxes for me. I normally have one to two broods of Bluebirds per year (in 2019 I had three) and often, two broods of Barn Swallows. Usually, there is also a brood of Tree Swallows in the nest box that the Bluebirds aren't using. This year (2023), here in the U.S. mid-Atlantic region, we had a "snow drought" during late winter and early spring, causing a lack of water saturation in the ground. My nesting Bluebirds arrived six weeks late this year (early May instead of mid-March). They had a small brood, that still occasionally visits my yard. I would like to find out if our Climate Change, manifesting in 2023 as a snow drought, has affected the nesting cycles of other birds in the mid-Atlantic region.
