I love adventures and exploring nature. Because of Local Flora class, I had the opportunity to explore the greater Chicagoland area to identify many types of wildflowers using a taxonomic key.

Also in doing research for Ecology, I was able to perform projects related to lichen research, so I am fascinated by these symbiotic organisms and like to seek them out in nature as well.

After the class was over, I have found that keying wildflowers has been a personal hobby of mine. So this is my personal journey into nature and identifying as many things as possible to not only see that there is so much more around us if we just look, but also to take in and appreciate the remaining biological diversity that exists in current ecosystems.
