Description
This time its PINK
Paraplectana cf mamoniae
This year from Team SAALIGA and Karnataka spider club we decided to celebrate Deepavali through different way.
By posting colorful / vibrant spiders throughout this week & with hashtags .
Here is my first post
Paraplectana sp .
On first week of October i had a chance to visit Vasanthi akka farm. She showed me a spider which was mimicking Ladybird beetle. This was in my Wishlist for many years. Our teammate sumukha was first to sight this beauty & describe it from India (paraplectana rajashree).
That dream came true because of Vasanthi akka.
But, soon after 2 week i visited my native again . That time I explored different location. unique habitat. Though i got many interesting spiders, this stands best of all.
Yes its again a Paraplectana species.
But this time with different color !
What I had seen & others posted is of orange color with black Dots.
But this was unique with Pink color! which actually doesn't mimic a ladybird !
I was hyperexcited to spot this elusive creature without anyone's help .
This was on a ficus leaf , 1 feet above ground.
After referring papers this looks like Paraplectana mamoniae( by Paris Basumatary & Dulur Brahma) ,which was sighted in Assam.
But this spider was bit restless & I was unable to take satisfactory pic .
Still happy to sight this rare beauty & add to distribution map.
