Locally common amongst Ana'e (Angiopteris evecta) on steep ridgeline leading to Atukura. Plants up to 1 m tall. Flowers white.

Plants correspond to P. amboinensis var. papuana (Schltr.) Schltr. according to Sykes (2016) though the name P. graeffei Rchb.f. has also been used for Samoan and Rarotonga plants.
