The plants grow pink and white on the same bush, (although this is a composite of three separate bushes all in the same vicinity). Oliver's notes : Hairy stem, hairy leaf, hairy pedicel, hairy sepal. that the bracts are remote, the ovary is hispidulous (hairy) on top and the hairs are stout and barballate (short stiff, hooked or bristled).They style is exerted . Grows at low altitude in arid fynbos to renosterveld. Schuman & Kirsten note that it forms a well branched erect shrub 300 - 400mm high and has a scruffy appearance. Grows in dryish conditions from Paarl to Oudshoorn. They also note that the anthers are aristate (awned).

The sepal can be red or green (both on one of the photos)
