Description

Growing on mamaku (Cyathea medullaris) and old totara (Podocarpus totara var. totara) fence posts (some bearing plastic labels hammered into them) lying in rough pasture between the two small blocks of Puti Point Scenic Reserve. Flowering heavily at time of observation. Metrosideros carminea is very common around the Kawhia Harbour but rarely noted unless it is flowering
