Description

Note the placement and that it has been cut down, suggesting a wild tree. For whatever reason, Q. palustris seems to naturalize in Sacramento more than other Eastern oaks. This despite their preference for acidic soil. Note the symptoms of mild chlorosis which is common in this species in the Western US. Sacramento soils seem to be just acidic enough for them to succeed however.
