First color photographs 118 years after first described with its first appearance in southern Indiana during The Hoosier Mushroom Society online summer foray event 2022. Found twice on the same day in two counties. It's the third and fourth documented in history. DNA sequence data by Stephen Russell confirmed its placement. It was originally collected in Missouri and then 105 years later in eastern Tennessee. It is the only member of Lepiota known to have a pink spore print instead of the usual white or cream colored. Photos taken in Brown County shows rarely seen spore dusting on the ground left behind by this unique mushroom.
