Description
arroyo willow, Salix lasiolepis, California, White Mountains, Pellisier Creek, Hammil Valley - Owens Valley drainage, elevation 1826 m (5990 ft).
One of the two most common willows in lower elevation riparian corridors in the White Mountains, and widespread throughout the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, as far north as Washington. The leaves of this species emerge with or just after the catkins, and were not yet fully expanded when these images were made.
