Low elevation, ~3200 ft. Recent (~2000+ yrs) andesite lava flow may account for this species growing here. Cones dark purplish brown, crown sharply pointed, needles blunt/rounded, bark silvery white. A photo looking to east/north-east from near this tree shows other conifers in this immediate area.
